Heritage land to be sold to fund homes

HYDE Martlet has been given permission to sell off land to help fund a housing development.

The housing association had asked Chichester District Council for permission to sell the land to the east of the Heritage to subsidise 56 affordable homes on the site.

Presenting the request to cabinet, Cllr Janet Duncton said: “If this works out it will provide much needed affordable housing in an area with high demand.”

Backing the proposal, Cllr Myles Cullen said it was ‘about time’ something happened on the site.

“Let’s get it done and I hope now work will really move on,” he said.

Members agreed to let Hyde Martlet sell the land, provided an independent valuation supports the announced level of cross-subsidy.
