Artist and illustrator Paul Cox will teach budding artists to interpret the intense atmosphere of the horse racing and to learn the picture making skills of composition and perspective.
Now in its third year, the course has helped people to develop a confident approach to location drawing.
Lesley Ormrod, a photographer who joined in the weekend course at West Dean two years ago, said: “I enjoy going to Goodwood and the races anyway, but the course was great because it gave us a different angle and experience of the races.
“We were able to work in any medium we wanted to and people of all abilities produced some lovely pieces. I’m a photographer and used the pictures of the horses to create some sketches.”
Goodwood races offer a fantastic wealth of images – the racecourse itself in its beautiful setting, grandstands and spectators, bookies, horses, jockies, trainers and enclosures.
The course runs from August 23-27 and costs £313. To book a place please call 0844 4994408.
