A TECHNICIAN is currently working to repair an automated level crossing near Southbourne that broke this morning (January 16).
A Network Rail spokesman said the broken crossing was in Inlands Road, in Southbourne. The barrier is stuck shut and traffic is unable to cross the railway line.
He said a train went through at 7.35am but afterwards the barrier did not raise itself again.
“We’ve had a technician on site since 8.25am,” he said.
The gates are automatic and he said if one detected a fault within itself it would stay down.
Drivers are advised to find an alternative crossing while the repairs are being carried out.
