Sports car fan Christopher Anderson-Clouting enjoyed a spin around Goodwood Motor Circuit in an Alfa Romeo – for free – thanks to kind-hearted staff at Mithril Racing.

The 125-mph thrill took place on Friday as a 14th birthday surprise, organised by grandfather John Clouting.

Christopher, who has cerebral palsy and learning difficulties, loves cars and when Mr Clouting was booking the £100 experience, staff said they could do it for free.

“The day was a great success, we were thrilled to bits with it, I can’t believe the generosity of it,” said Mr Clouting.

Mother Kirsty Anderson said: “It was absolutely amazing and we didn’t expect anything like that at all. Christopher got so much pleasure from it, his eyes lit up when he saw the cars.

“He was so excited. The people up at Goodwood were so friendly and so welcoming and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them – it’s a day he’ll remember.”
