£3,300 dished out to local good causes

Eight groups in the Midhurst and Petworth area have been given a cash boost courtesy of the North Chichester County Local Committee (CLC)

A total of 3,300 was dished out to good causes at the meeting.

Midhurst Town Council will put its 400 award from the Community Initiative Fund towards improving the skate park on Carron Lane, while Wisborough Green Parish Council will use its 250 to improve drainage on the village green. Youngsters in Harting will benefit from 500 to be spent on a play and sports project for the summer holidays.

Young people in Midhurst and Petworth will be able to join educational activities over the long school break as well, thanks to 300 for the Locality Youth Clubs.

Chris Duncton, county councillor for Petworth, who chaired the meeting, said: “I am certain the money awarded by the CLC will be put to very good use.

“There’s still more money to go around and we would welcome more applications from the organisations which work to make our area better for all who live here.”

Also on the agenda was a traffic calming scheme for Dawtrey Road, Petworth, which was approved.
