After-school club in Chichester scores top marks
An out-of-school care group in Chichester has been praised by inspectors for its friendly and inviting environment.
The Little Orchard Out of School Care group in Orchard Street was classed as good in all five areas examined, including helping children achieve well, protecting children from harm, organisation and helping children make a positive contribution.
Inspectors were impressed with the provision of physical activities, and said children had access to a good range of play equipment and
played in a safe and secure environment.
Staff were praised for their interaction with the children, and inspectors highlighted that the children had a real sense of belonging.
Children were described as being very well behaved and played well together and inspectors said staff worked to raise children's self esteem and all children were valued.
Inspectors were also impressed with the close relationship between staff and parents and praised how well the staff worked as a team.
"Children clearly enjoy coming to the setting and benefit greatly from the relaxed and friendly environment where they establish and secure positive and trusting relationships," said the report.
Club leader Carolyn Knight said: "We are very pleased with the report – the inspector picked up on the rapport with the children. We see the club as a home from home, it's like an extended family here. We were hoping to get results as we have worked very hard."
