SPEEDING drivers in Fishbourne and Tangmere have been targeted by police.

On Wednesday (February 19) the Chichester Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a ‘day of action’, targeting speeding vehicle, drivers using mobile phones and people not wearing seatbelts.

A spokeswoman from Chichester Police said officers were on Salthill Road, in Fishbourne. During their time at the location ten vehicles were pulled over and dealt with for numerous offences.

She added officers then went to Meadow Way, in Tangmere where they stopped five more vehicles.

PCSO Jason Lemm said: “We have listened to local residents who have raised concerns to us about speeding and various other driving offences in and around their communities.

“This day will be one of many where we will continue to work with local neighbourhoods to deal with the issue of speeding and other road related offences.”

The spokeswoman added anyone interested in volunteering for a community speed watch group could borrow police speed calming equipment to monitor a section of road they believed to be dangerous.
