Arundel Wetland Centre's winter wonderland
ARUNDEL'S Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust reserve is promising a winter wonderland for visitors prepared to brave the chilly start to 2009.
The centre has organised a programme of special events, including a Winter Wings day on January 17, with experts on hand in the hides, to help visitors appreciate the wildlife on view, and special breakfast and bewick's sessions to watch the migrant swans.
The bewick's breakfasts are on January 21 and 26, and the 15 charge (10 under-16s) includes a hearty breakfast.
On February 5 and 11 the centre is holding introduction to birdwatching courses, to help visitors identify even more of the many species of birds who live there all year round or are among the large numbers of winter migrants.
The centre is also open daily, with its boat "safaris" offering the opportunity to get close to nature, well laid-out paths to give good viewpoints of the wetland areas and, from the warmth of the visitor centre and restaurant, panoramic views over the reserve's Swan Lake.
