STUDENTS from Birdham Primary School competed in a triathlon event with around 40 children from Years 5 and 6.
The pupils were organised into teams of three.
Swimmers had to complete ten lengths of the 150m school pool, cyclists endured four laps of the entire grass boundary of the school, about 3,000m. Runners had a gruelling ten laps of the running circuit, about 1,000m, before they could cross the finishing line.
James Woodward from TriIT sports in Chichester, who has represented GB in world championships, supported the event and said: “This event is an excellent way to get children excited about competitive sport later in life.”
Gold medal winners were Jack Botley, Isobel Smith and Ella Wingate.
Silver medal winners were DJ Barth, Jessica Males and Grace Shepherd, and bronze medal winners were Emily Bell, Josh Milland and Fleur Wheeler.
