Bosham level crossing damaged after a hit-and-run
A MOTORIST caused travel chaos on Friday after hitting a level crossing barrier before driving off.
Trains travelling along the Brighton to Portsmouth line were delayed after the incident at 10.25am.
No-one was injured when the barrier at Bosham level crossing on Station Road was smashed into the path of an oncoming train by a hit-and-run driver.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said no damage was caused to the train, and engineers were soon at the site to replace the barrier.
“Trains continued to run but were cautioned over the level crossing while repairs were carried out.
As a result, there were minor delays in the area,” he added.
British Transport Police appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
