Brent Lodge birthday celebration

Birthday celebrations were enjoyed at Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital when it held its 30th anniversary grand draw.

The wildlife hospital marked its three decades of being a registered charity with the draw, which sold 11,000 tickets.

The main cash prize winners were Ms H Smyth of Ryde, who won 1,000, Mr and Mrs C Pritchard of West Ashling, who won 300, and Mrs S Baker of Fishbourne, who won 100.

There were also five runner-up prize-winners who each won a 20 shopping voucher.

"Once the cost of the prizes and ticket printing is deducted, that leaves nearly 4,000 contributed to Brent Lodge funds, making it our most successful raffle ever," said charity trustee Yvonne Graves, said.

"Having announced our impending closure last year because of lack of funds, thanks to the fantastic response from the public, Brent Lodge is still here.

"However, we have to continually work on fundraising to keep generating the 120,000 a year we need, so the contribution from this draw is a significant part of that. We're really pleased with the result."
