Brother is in charity gig after tragic loss

THE brother of a Petersfield guitarist who died in a tragic accident has joined his sibling's band so they can play at a charity festival.

Will Plumb (17), of Selborne Close, will join brother Nick's old group The Deloreans to ensure they play as planned at the Onionfest concert near Midhurst on July 25.

Nick (26) died on May 3 in Bristol after a heavy fall.

Will, also a guitarist, has stepped into his shoes and will join Nick's old bandmates for the show, which raises money for Char's Fund.

The charity was set up in memory of Charlotte Jones, the Petersfield girl who died in the 2004 Asian tsunami disaster. Will said: "I wanted to do something on his behalf.

"He was the one that got me into music in the first place.

"It is a brotherly thing, I would have wanted him to have done the same for me."

Nick's best friend John Fee has also joined the band as a guitarist for the show.

About 200 people attended Nick's funeral at the Sustainability Centre in East Meon on May 18, exceeding its capacity and forcing some mourners to wait in the corridor or outside.

Will played a song on Nick's own acoustic guitar during the service.

His mother Tracey Plumb said: "I would sincerely like to thank, on behalf of my family, all the kindness, love and support that has been given by family and so many friends, some of whom I had not even met before the tragic death of my son Nick, who was only 26.

"He was an incredibly well liked and loved young man.

"He was such a happy guy with a wonderful warm smile and had an amazing zest for life and loved socialising and his music."
