THE spirit of the South Downs has been captured in a range of artworks to raise money for two local charities.

Bernard Charles, an artist from Chichester, has organised an exhibition and sale in aid of The Sussex Snowdrop Trust and Contact 88.

The black and white prints are signed by Mr Charles, who will also be exhibiting them at Chichester Library.

“Some charities are really finding it difficult to raise the funds they need,” said Mr Charles. “So I thought an event to support two local charities would be a good thing to do.”

Founded by Bernard Charles in 1988, Contact 88 is a transport service for the elderly and disabled living in Chichester.

It has more than 20 drivers
and escorts who are on hand to assist groups enjoying a day out.

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust, also based in Chichester, provides care at home for children with life threatening or terminal illnesses.

The prints, which are £25 each, can be viewed at Rose Court, St Cyriacs, Chichester, on Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, between 11am and 2pm.
