A BUS company’s appeal has raised £1,500 for Help for Heroes, thanks to the generosity of passengers who travelled on the Chichester park and ride services in the lead-up to Christmas.

Operations manager for Stagecoach in Chichester, Simon Tramalloni said: “We want to thank everyone for all the support and generous donations received.

“I am honoured to be handing over this money on behalf of Stagecoach to such a worthy charity. Help for Heroes offers so much support to the men and women who are wounded to get their lives back on track.”

Mr Tramalloni presented James Burns, London & South East regional coordinator for Help for Heroes with a cheque at Chichester bus station.

Mr Burns praised Stagecoach and their customers for their generosity.

“I would like to say an enormous thank you on behalf of the charity and more importantly the wounded, injured and sick service men and women who will benefit from the support and amazing generosity of the staff and customers of Stagecoach,” said Mr Burns.

“This is a really great example of the British public doing their bit for the blokes.

“Events such as this help us keep the profile of the charity high as it is important to realise that the support we give is for life. It helps us get the message across that while the war may be ending, their battle continues and we will not let them battle alone.”

Councillor Myles Cullen, cabinet member for commercial services at Chichester District Council, said: “We’re delighted to have partnered up with Stagecoach for the Christmas 2013 park and ride service in Chichester. The service once again proved incredibly popular.

“We’re delighted with the amount raised for such a good cause.”
