THE CHICHESTER Harbour Conservancy patrol team is set for a summer of keeping people safe.

The team has been preparing for the summer months ahead, with the past three days packed with intensive training.

New recruit and ex-Navy deck officer Susanna Stokes said: “I’m really excited to be part of the team this summer and looking forward to meeting the varied spectrum of harbour-users.”

In 2013 the team dealt with more than 200 incidents including seven prosecutions for vessels speeding in the harbour.

“Promoting safe enjoyment and protection of the beauty of Chichester Harbour are our main priorities,” said Philip Walker, deputy harbourmaster and patrol team manager.

He said he was confident and pleased the team was ready to go.
