Cyclist dies after Charlton crash

A WESTBOURNE cyclist who suffered serious head injuries after a crash at Charlton, has died.

He has been named as 42-year-old Howard Plumb. The coroner has been informed and a post mortem examination is due to be carried out.

Emergency services were called to Knight’s Hill at around 5.15pm on Saturday (July 5) after a collision involving Mr Plumb and a white Honda Jazz car. He was taken to St George’s Hospital in London by air ambulance where he died on Monday morning.

A 54-year-old man from Sweden, the driver of the Honda, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been bailed until today (July 8) while investigations continue.

Sergeant Stewart Goodwin said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this crash or the vehicles prior to it to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Brill.”
