Cyclist in ‘critical’ condition after Charlton crash

A WESTBOURNE man has been taken to hospital with ‘life-threatening injuries’ after a crash in Charlton near Chichester.

Sussex Police was called at 5.17pm today (July 5), to Knight’s Hill in Charlton, after a crash between a White Honda car and a bicycle.

Sgt Goodwin of Sussex Police said the cyclist, a 42-year-old Westbourne man, has been flown by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in London, after suffering ‘critical head injuries’.

A 54-year-old man from Sweden, the driver of the Honda, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until July 8 while investigations continue.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses, and anyone who saw the incident should call 101 quoting Operation Brill.
