A PUB which closed after a fire in 2012 could be redeveloped with eight new homes.

Crayfern Homes have applied to develop the site of The Chequers Inn, on Oving Road, which was demolished last year.

The plan includes two two-bedroom homes and six three-bedroom properties on the site.

One of the homes will provide affordable housing.

The proposals outline provision for parking and cycle racks outside the houses, and access from Oving Road.

The Chequers Inn closed in October, 2012, after a fire in the first-floor bedroom.

There was fire damage to the bedroom but smoke also affected the remainder of the pub.

It never reopened, and the building was demolished in August, 2013.
