RESIDENTS in Pagham will receive a visit from a the secretary of state Eric Pickles.

Mr Pickles will be in the area this morning (Thursday, February 20) to see first hand, the damage caused by the recent bad weather.

He will also be able to look at some of the work which has already been done to protect residents and homes.

Speaking at last night’s Arun District Council special full council meeting, Paul Dendle, the council’s cabinet member for the environment welcomed his visit.

Cllr Dendle said: “Pagham beach has been a very serious issue. Communities and homes are at risk.

“We have alongside others been working very hard on this issue. If the rock revetment work had not been done then I fear homes would have been lost.

“I welcome Mr Pickles visit tomorrow and look forward to hearing what he has to say.”

Mr Pickles’s visit comes following an invitation from Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP Nick Gibb.
