Exciting chance to back Festival of Chichester

THIS year’s Festival of Chichester is looking to strengthen its links with the business community.

An impressive programme of events has come together for the festival in its second year and will be announced within the next few weeks, with an official launch day on the Cathedral Green on Saturday, April 19.

But before that happens, the festival, which has already received generous financial backing from Chichester City Council, is wanting to build up its contacts with the city’s business community.

The aim is to make the 2014 festival the brightest, biggest and best in the south.

Festival co-ordinator Barry Smith said: “We have over 250 fantastic events in the pipeline offering a brilliant experience for people across the city, the local region and beyond. There are many exciting ways businesses can get together with the festival to add lustre to the festival experience and promote the profile of their own business by backing the local community.”

Chichester and district business people are being invited to a special meeting to get the ball rolling at 
6pm on Tuesday, March 25 
in the Council Chamber at the Assembly Rooms in North Street.

Barry added: “2013 saw the establishment of the brand-new, award-winning Festival of Chichester, replacing the long-established Chichester Festivities.

“All sorts of events took place in a month-long celebration of the arts and the talents of the city.

“We’d like the business community of Chichester to help bring the festival into their shops, businesses and on to the streets in 2014.

“We have a vision of a vibrant city-wide festival spilling onto the streets and out into the surrounding area.

“Restaurants with special festival menus, shops with special festival displays, street banners and signs – a real buzz in the city to get people out and about, enjoying themselves and contributing to the local economy in a big way.

“Thousands of people bought tickets last year.

“The question we are asking business people is: would you like to get 
your message across to them in 2014?’

“Business people are invited to attend a short ideas meeting on Tuesday, March 25, at 6pm in the Council Chamber, Assembly Rooms, North Street, Chichester, to start the ball rolling.

“Interested business people are invited to email festivalchichester@gmail.com giving their name and the organisation represented to book a place.”
