Fire crew adds to the fun of the fayre at Emsworth
Fun was had by all at Emsworth Primary School's summer fayre – except deputy headteacher David Rosser, who had wet sponges thrown at him all afternoon.
There was plenty to do in the sunshine on the school playing fields on Saturday including disco and country dancing, and other traditional fete games including welly throwing.
A fire engine from Emsworth fire station also turned up – not to put out the barbecue but for the children to look at.
In total the event raised 1,750, which will be used to fund school trips and help maintain the allotment gardens which has been developed by pupils and parents.
Headteacher Rosie Law said: "It was a fantastic day, very hot and there was a lovely atmosphere. It was very child centred and lots of parents came to support."
Treasurer of the school's Parents and Teachers Association Wendy Bailey said: "It's just a good community event because it gets everybody together.
"For a lot of the new mums it gives them the opportunity to get involved and meet new people. When you go to a new school you always think 'I would like to help but don't know who to speak to'.
"We have had lots of good feedback saying everybody enjoyed it."
