A FLAG has been raised outside Chichester District Council to mark Commonwealth Day.

Councillor Martyn Bell, chairman of the district council was present at the ceremony which took place on Monday to mark a day of celebrations.

Cllr Bell, who read out the Commonwealth affirmation before raising the flag, said: “Chichester District Council is delighted to be taking part in this unique and historical event.

“Flying the Commonwealth Flag is an opportunity for people, wherever we may be, to celebrate the Commonwealth. It allows people to join together with others throughout the Commonwealth.”
