THERE were shrieks of joy in the corridors of Lavant House School this morning as the GCSE results were finally opened.
The school has enjoyed some fantastic results with 85 per cent of pupils having received at least five A* to C grades with four girls receiving at least eight A or A* grades.
One such high-flyer is Freya James, who achieved an incredible 12 GCSEs at A* and A (eight A* grades and four A grades).
She said, “I really can’t believe this. “Obviously these are the kind of results you dream of, but to find out that I’ve got them is overwhelming.
“I am so happy and so grateful to my teachers here at Lavant House who have supported me all the way; I really couldn’t have done this without them and without my parents who have been incredible.”
Classmates Phoebe McCall and Bronte Popplewell were similarly thrilled, scoring ten A* and A grades and eight A* and A grades, plus two Bs respectively.
Bronte said: “I have to say that I’m shocked to have done so well today.
I have been revising hard since Easter and I had hoped that all that preparation would pay off for me and I’m very pleased to find out that it has!”
Headmistress Caroline Horton added: “We’re delighted to have maintained our strong A* and A grade percentage and, despite national changes to examinations, to have kept up our good standard of results across the board.
“Well done to all of the girls who have worked so hard, to the staff who are celebrating with our pupils this morning and to their parents who provide such excellent support at home.”
