Golfers step back in time at Goodwood Revival Golf competition

The Goodwood Estate is renowned for its sporting pedigree and on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Goodwood Revival, a new event was unveiled at The Kennels, the clubhouse for Golf at Goodwood.

This morning a cast of celebrity golfers converged on the Downs Course to compete in the inaugural Goodwood Golf Revival competition.

The James Braid-designed course hosted four fourballs comprising celebrity and media guests who competed over nine holes.

All players used original hickory clubs and dressed in golfing attire of the Braid era.

A cast of celebrities and pro golfers were led up by former BBC golfing anchor man and now ITV's Formula 1 host Steve Rider, who competed alongside, Chris Evans, Len Goodman, Tiff Needell, Chris Villiars, Dickie Davis, Sion Tudor Owen, Chris Hollins, Mark Roe, Paul Way, Ed Stewart and Robert Pugh.

General manager at Goodwood Rob Grieg said: "We have been staggered by the positive response and next year will open entries to a wider audience."
