CHILDREN have celebrated a number of reasons to be thankful this harvest time.

Pupils at Great Ballard School had a I am Thankful For... assembly where children offered thanks for all sorts of different things.

The theme of thanksgiving continued when Harvest Festival was celebrated with an assembly, attended by the Rev Marian Curtis, pupils, parents, staff and a representative from Stonepillow.

Donations of produce and gifts had been taken in throughout the week and were gratefully received by Stonepillow.

The last half-term also saw children, parents and friends of the school taking part in, and supporting, local events to raise funds for several different charities at the school and at Eartham House.

Charities supported include Enable-Me, Paws, the Air Ambulance, Friends of St Richard’s Hospital, St Margaret’s Church and Macmillan nurses.

“We believe that these events give our children the opportunity to be involved in the wider community and an appreciation of how fortunate we are to be part of a very caring school, something that has been part of the school ethos since its early days in 1924,” said a school spokeswoman.
