Horsham FC lodge appeal over Holbrook site

HORSHAM Football Club has lodged an appeal in an attempt to get a new ground built at The Holbrook Club, in North Heath Lane.

Plans for a new ground in the town, plus car parking, were turned down by the district council in July last year.

The scheme was met with strong criticism from local residents who have continued to voice their concerns.

Horsham FC purchased the Holbrook Club for around 2.5m in December 2006 with a view to developing a 3,000 fan capacity ground on the site, while retaining much of the Holbrook club's facilities.

It had sold its former ground at Queen Street, Horsham, for housing.

A public inquiry will be held to decide the appeal. Anyone wishing to send in representations should address them to The Planning Inspectorate, Room 3/21, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN before February 2.
