Indoor ice rink on its way to Midhurst for Christmas

An indoor ice rink has been booked for Midhurst during the Christmas holidays, to help keep young people occupied.

The synthetic rink is to be installed in the Grange leisure centre's main sports hall from December 28-31 as part of the centre's programme to develop junior activities.

Centre manager Mike Boyce said its three-day stay would culminate in a new year's eve early-evening disco for youngsters.

Around 3,000 has been invested in the ice initiative and Mr Boyce hopes

as many 30-minute user slots as possible will be pre-booked so everyone gets

a chance.

Cost per slot will be around 3 and associated attractions will include toddler skates and a snow machine.

Separately, the developing junior activities programme is being supported by Kavanagh Budgens supermarket in Midhurst.

The store already has supportive links with Midhurst Primary School and the Midhurst community bus, and has been a sponsor of the Madhurst festival.

Mr Boyce said: "The Grange's new junior activities include revamping our holiday playscheme clubs, starting a toddlers' gym and doing children's parties. Budgens is helping towards the cost.

"It is more of a partnership between us, not just a case of them giving us a bit of money and us saying thanks very much.

"They are going to help us promote the Grange through their store and contribute to these activities."

The partnership will be officially launched on Sunday, September 19, with various junior activities taking place outside the supermarket.
