THE ANNUAL reunion of the Italy Star Association will take place at the start of May, with a parade through Chichester city centre on Sunday, May 4.
Members of the association are surviving veterans of the second world war’s Italian campaign.
This year’s reunion weekend is from May 2 to 5 at the South Downs Holiday Village, in Earnley.
There will be a reception at the council house, in North Street for civic dignitaries and association members on Sunday, May 4, which will be followed by a service of remembrance and dedication at the cathedral.
After the service, the veterans and their families will parade through the city, behind a pipes and drum band, saluting to the military officers and dignitaries outside the council house.
There will be a reunion dinner later in the day at the holiday village.
Every year, crowds turn out in force to honour the veterans as they march through the streets wearing their medals, often accompanied by family members.
The cathedral service is also open to the public.
