Long walk home for Billingshurst pupil
An entire school of 1,100 people was successfully moved by train to the start of a charity walk to help schoolchildren in Kenya.
The Weald School at Billingshurst – pupils and staff – walked from Pulborough back home, after being transported free by Southern Railway from Billingshurst station to their start point.
The sponsored event was in aid of The Weald's own charity, Classrooms for Kenya, which funds the replacement of dilapidating school buildings.
The Weald reported the adventure had been 'totally successful' and completely without incident.
It is not yet known how much was raised.
