Look Hugh's going to be on the stage

Comedian Hugh Dennis will make an appearance at the Observer Business Awards.

The Chichester man, who has starred in BBC sitcom My Hero and BBC comedy Outnumbered, will be at the glitzy award ceremony at Goodwood Racecourse on February 29.

Mr Dennis is best known for his work with comedy partner Steve Punt.

The double act were part of The Mary Whitehouse Experience, featured in Canned Carrot and The Imaginatively Titled Punt and Dennis Show.

Mr Dennis married Catherine Abbot-Anderson in June 1996 and lives with her and their two children in Chichester.

Also taking to the stage at Goodwood will be popular local television presenter Fred Dinenage, who is master of ceremonies.

During the build-up to the ceremony, the Observer will continue to showcase some of the entries that have been made since the launch of the competition.

The tension grows as businesses wait to see if they have made the shortlist to attend the eagerly-awaited awards evening.

The Observer has received numerous business award entries and scooping an award will be no easy ride.

A panel of judges was meeting on Monday, February 4, to decide who makes the final stage of the prestigious competition.

Businesses will be contacted shortly afterwards when they will learn whether they have been shortlisted, and will be offered the chance to buy a table at the black-tie awards ceremony.

If you would like to sponsor an award, please call Dianne Gill at the Observer on 01243 534124 for more details.
