A HAVANT man has been charged with a spate of thefts from cars in the Chichester district.

Edward Butler, 39, unemployed, of Tangley Walk, Havant, has been charged with nine counts of theft from motor vehicles in the Chichester area and Hampshire at the end of August.

It is alleged he broke into cars and stole various items at Stansted Park, Hampshire, on August 29 and 31, and at Ambersham Common, Cocking Hill, Heyshott Common and West Stoke on August 31.

He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on yesterday (September 2) where he was remanded to appear at Chichester Crown Court on September 23.
