THE Selsey lifeboat crew and coastguard helicopter were called out to a boat after a man had a heart attack yesterday (August 31).
The call came in at 1.45pm, and asked the Selsey RNLI to assist in the evacuation of a man who had suffered a heart attack aboard the fishing boat White Huntress.
The coastguard helicopter was also called to the scene.
The White Huntress was five miles south east of the lifeboat station, and the skipper of the charter boat was conducting CPR on the man.
The lifeboat stood off while the paramedic was lowered to the vessel to assess the man.
He took over CPR from the skipper of the vessel and decided immediate evacuation was needed so the lifeboat stayed clear till this had been completed and the helicopter departed the scene heading for hospital in Portsmouth.
The lifeboat then approached the White Huntress to check the other people on board were okay and not in shock.
They said they were okay and would stay on the vessel for the return passage to Northney Marina in Chichester Harbour.
