STUDENTS hospitalised after taking illegal drugs in halls of residence will not be charged, police have confirmed.
The University of Chichester vice-chancellor Clive Behagg said the students were ‘lucky’ to be alive after the incident on May 17.
Three students, aged 21, 20 and 18, were all taken to St Richard’s Hospital from St Christopher’s accommodation block, off Fishbourne Road East.
The 21-year-old was arrested and bailed.
On Monday, Sussex Police said the 21-year-old man, from Chichester, received a caution for three counts of possession of drugs, two class-B and one class-A. The 20-year-old man from Chichester was also given a caution for two counts of possession of class-A drugs.
An 18-year-old man from Dorchester, in Dorset, was cautioned for possession of a class-A and class-B drug.
At the time, the university suspended the 21-year-old, but on Tuesday would not say if further steps were taken, only confirming ‘all three were subjected to disciplinary proceedings’.
The students were not named by police.
