Police to quiz motorists about Tarring attempted murder
POLICE are to question motorists near the scene of a hit and run crash which left a mother-of-two fighting for life.
The 35-year-old woman was left with "life-changing" injuries after being hit by a vehicle while cycling on her son's bicycle in Canterbury Road, near the junction with Friar Walk, at 10.45pm last Friday.
Officers will tonight (Friday, March 7) speak to passers-by and motorists to try and find out more about what happened and hopefully uncover witnesses.
A 44-year-old man, known to the victim, was arrested last Saturday evening on suspicion of attempted murder. He was released on police bail while enquiries continue, and will report back to police on March 31.
A white Ford Transit van was recovered in nearby Broadwater Hall the day after the accident.
DC Graham Pratt, who is leading Operation Trader, said: "Our investigation is making good progress, but the victim in this case has suffered terrible injuries and we are treating the incident as attempted murder."
