A NUMBER of shops in North Street reported power cuts today (August 29).
A spokesman for Scottish and Southern Electricity (SSE) confirmed the company had engineers on site this afternoon looking to fix the problem.
Initially, around 2,000 customers are believed to have lost power around 12.45pm, with a number getting power back within a minute.
However, there were still many without power. The spokesman said 1,000 customers were back with power by 1.30pm.
Speaking around 2pm, he said there were around 300 customers still without power.
“We do have engineers on site as well,” he said.
“It looks at the moment like it’s a fault on the underground table.
“We’re looking to get it all back as soon as possible.”
It has been confirmed power was back for everyone by 3.10pm.
The Chichester streets affected included North Street, Orchard Street, Washington Street and Northgate.
