Revival cars roar
Some of the best-dressed guys and girls in town will be at the Goodwood Revival which starts tomorrow (Friday, September 19).
This nostalgic event, which recreates the golden days of motor racing in all its glory, will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Goodwood motor circuit and the tenth anniversary of the revival.
The festival will be hosting what is believed to be the most expensive line-up of cars to date, with historic cars to the tune of 85m in one place.
This year the headlights will blaze into the darkness, with a new night-time race on Saturday, while in the air a Vulcan bomber will wow the crowds with a noisy display to celebrate the 60th anniversary.
Saturday is Ladies' Day, where those sporting the best period dress from the 1950s and 1960s will receive prizes of champagne and flowers from an expert panel of fashion judges.
Over the weekend everything from the cars to the costumes to the fish and chip wrappers will be in period style, and there will also be a period garage with an impressive Porsche showroom.
There will be plenty of action off the track as well, with the popular Revival Market, selling all manner of items from yesteryear.
This year Goodwood has launched its own authentic ladies' seamed stockings, using genuine 1940s silk stockings.
This morning a cast of celebrity golfers converged on the Downs Course to compete in the inaugural Goodwood Golf Revival competition. All players used original hickory clubs and dressed in golfing attire of the Braid era.
The players included ITV's Formula 1 host Steve Rider, Chris Evans, Len Goodman, Tiff Needell, Dickie Davis, Sion Tudor Owen, Ed Stewart and golf professionals Mark Roe and Paul Way.
