Romany funeral for village resident

ALL THE stops were pulled out for the funeral of a Coolham resident yesterday (Thursday August 7).

Caroline Brazil died on Saturday July 26 aged 73 after a brave fight against cancer.

In traditional Romany style, a horse drawn hearse and two horse drawn London trolleys were used to take Miss Brazil to St Mary the Virgin church in Shipley.

She first moved to Brooks Green, Coolham, in 1945, aged seven, along with nine brothers and four sisters.

She is outlived by one sister Gemima Lidbetter.

More than 100 people attended the funeral, with some in traditional dress.
