Southbourne comes to life

Southbourne recreation ground came to life for the village's Sussex Day Fete.

Hosting 35 stalls which were raising funds for numerous charities, the family day had a fantastic atmosphere with more than 400 people turning out to enjoy the glorious weather and support the various good causes.

Fete supporter Ruth Heelan said: "You would think from the national press the English village community is a dying society. Don't believe it – we have the proof it is alive and thriving in Southbourne."

The day included music from the TS Unity Band, who began the entertainment, while Egyptian dancing, martial arts and gymnastic displays made the day anything but dull.
