Summer's in full swing at Lavant fete
Summer was definitely in full swing at Lavant's annual fete.
Crowds enjoyed demonstrations by Canine Partner dogs while the tug of war later in the afternoon proved to be very competitive, with the football team triumphing against the allotment association.
Little ray of sunshine Arwen Raynor, six, lit up the event in her role as carnival princess while homemade cakes were snapped up at the well-stocked stalls.
Music was provided by the Haslemere Brass Band and Goodwood came up trumps for the grand raffle, donating tickets for the races and Festival of Speed.
Fete organising committee member Jane Windsor said the event had been the best yet and everyone was delighted with how it went.
"It was wonderful, we had the weather on our side and we must have had about 1,000 people.
"Of course with the credit crunch we wondered whether it would be as popular, but we were packed and we took more at the stalls.
"The day is all about the Lavant people and so all the stalls were for organisations based in Lavant and all the money made will go back into the village."
The event raised 3,000 which will be divided between the various organisations in the village.
