TRAVELLERS who have been camped around Chichester headed for Selsey today (May 29), before being turned away from the Bunn Leisure Centre.

A number of caravans first appeared on land outside Chichester College around ten days ago.

After they were evicted from Chichester College they moved to the car park outside the Centurion Mental Health Centre, in Graylingwell Drive, before arriving in the Northgate car park on Sunday (May 25).

They later moved to a coach park in Via Ravenna, next to Waitrose.

A Chichester District Council spokeswoman said today: “The travellers who moved onto the coach/lorry park in Via Ravenna, Chichester, yesterday (May 28) have been moved on this morning.

“We worked closely with West Sussex County Council and Sussex Police to resolve this as quickly as possible.”

Once they left Chichester, the caravans headed towards Selsey and arrived at the Bunn Leisure Centre.

However, they were turned away as they needed to have made a booking in advance to enter the site.
