TWO more restaurants are coming to Chichester after getting planning permission.

Wildwood, a franchise specialising in grills, stone-baked pizza and freshly-prepared pastas, will open at 51a South Street,

Formerly home to Solutions Inc, which is now based at 73 South Street, the unit was temporarily home to gift shop All Wrapped Up.

Wildwood said its new restaurant would generate 20 full and part-time jobs.

And Wildwood is not alone, with a coffee and snack bar also getting planning permission the same week.

The coffee bar is for 33, Southgate, which was Gemini hairdressers.

According to the unnamed coffee bar’s design and access statement, where it describes itself as a ‘high-end cafe’: “Number 33 is the end building of a sequence of good, interesting but tired, period retail outlets and cafes.”

There was one letter of objection to the coffee bar.

Mrs A M Hutchinson wrote: “We have more than enough restaurants in Southgate/South Street already. I have counted a total of 16 plus four takeaways.

“Chichester is renowned for its shopping experience with a mix of individual retailers as well as national stores.

“I would not like to lose that but I do feel that if we add another restaurant to one of our main streets we will.”

The coffee bar applicant is local, from Bosham.
