Police investigate after a woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

THE elderly woman from Selsey injured when a delivery truck reversed over her on Tuesday is said to have serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police today confirmed the woman, who was flown to Southampton General Hospital, had sustained serious leg, pelvis and arm injuries but she is said to be in recovery.

Because of her age however there is still concern over her safety.

Another woman, a 23-year-old from Berkshire, suffered minor injuries as she gave the woman first aid.

The incident happened in the car park of New Parade, off the High Street outside FA Holland and Son Funeral Directors, with police and ambulance called to the scene just after midday.

Firefighters and paramedics had to pull her out from under the Pauley’s Fresh Produce delivery truck before she was airlifted to hospital.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 101.
