A HAZE of fumes and smoke descended on Midhurst yesterday (May 11), as the town took a step back in time.

The 60s came to life as Mods came from across the South Coast invaded Midhurst in what looked like a scene from cult British film Quadrophenia.

More than 30 scootering clubs took over the town and the roads on their Lambrettas and Vespas, while donating an incredible £550 for another much-loved British classic - the bulldog.

Hundreds of Mods in their parka coats and Dr Martens boots made their way from Bognor Pier to Carron Lane in Midhurst to raise money, and awareness, of the Bulldog Rescue and Rehoming Trust.
