VIDEO: Sands of Time seaside festival in Bognor Regis

'OH I do like to be beside the seaside' was the theme in Bognor Regis over the weekend.

Thousands of people flocked to the prom on Saturday May 31 and Sunday June 1 for this year's Sands of Time seaside festival.

From Morris Dancers and Punch and Judy to donkey rides and ice creams, the event had a strong connection with coastal living in days past with the theme of 'Pirates and Smugglers'.

A special appearance from Captain Jack Sparrow, of Pirates of the Caribbean fame, was one of the main crowd pullers.

Sue Holmes, the town council's events officer, said: "The weekend has been a great success.

"It's a reminder that the seaside is there, when you live so close to it you tend to forget that it is there. We are very lucky to have it.

"It's been a real family fun-filled weekend."

Sands of Time has been rated one of the UK's top days out. It was placed number six in the Sunday Times' recent 50 tips for an enjoyable visit.
