VIDEO: Here's looking at you babe – and that wonderful pram

TINY Max O'Donoghue doesn't know what all the fuss is about when he is pushed around in his antique pram.

As the 15-month-old peers out of his black traditional Harris drop-front pram, passers-by cannot help but marvel at the 74-year-old carriage.

His grandmother Sue O'Donoghue, of Clay Lane, Fishbourne, could not believe her luck when she discovered the antique on free community swap-shop network Freecycle.

At the time she believed it was around 60 years old, but after getting it repaired at C&J Marine in the village she was amazed to find it was, in fact, 14 years older.

"I'm the theatrical co-ordinator for the Goodwood Revival so when the baby was born we decided he could be my youngest actor," the 48-year-old said.

"The pram is still in beautiful condition. All I had to do was clean up the chrome and have the wheels and hood renovated.

"We got it from a family in Hunston – they had been clearing out the loft of a loved one and found it there. We think it had been used for only one baby."

The family use the pram every day and are often approached by passers-by.

"Going everywhere takes twice as long. I feel like getting a T-shirt saying 'yes, it is a proper pram'," Mrs O'Donoghue said. "We have even had people asking us to sell it to them."

Wayne Strickland, C&J Marine manager, said: "It is pretty rare that we are asked to repair something of this age.

"We have been here 19 years and it is the first we've done.

"It wasn't until we started unpicking it that we realised its age and we just thought 'oh wow'."
