Harry Howard has returned to Bognor Regis after a taste of life in the Outback.
The 12-year-old schoolboy is back in his home town following his spell in front of the television cameras down under.
He spent three-and-a-half weeks in Tully, Queensland, taking part in the BBC's Escape from Scorpion Island.
Harry, of Stanford Close, will be in the third series of the adventure programme based on I'm A Celebrity...
This is due to be screened early next year, though the transmission times will not be confirmed until later, after the next series in September.
Harry said his time filming was a memorable experience. "It was exciting and really fun," he stated.
"We did a lot of activities. There were height challenges and water challenges on a big scale. It was scary but you were overcoming your fears. I overcame my fear of heights.
"Most people my age who are on TV are only in adverts for two minutes tops.
"But I'm going to be on TV for weeks and weeks. It was a lifetime's chance to go on TV and also to Australia."
Felpham Community College pupil Harry was featured in the Observer before he left for Australia.
He was chosen from 4,000 applicants to be among the 24 British participants – from Sheffield, Wales and London among other places – in the latest two series of Scorpion Island to be hosted by Virgin Radio DJs JK and Joel.
They were joined by eight Australians and split into teams of six. Details of the adventures are under embargo until the series is screened.
But Harry loved being filmed. "I was confident in front of the cameras and the way I acted on camera was fun," he recalled.
The entrants slept in wooden cabins which were also attractive to a host of wildlife at night.
There was no contact allowed with home but they were allowed weekends off. They visited a crocodile farm, where Harry held one of the reptiles, and met kangaroos.
Harry's mum, Sandra Howard, said: "We are extremely proud of Harry. More than 4,000 youngsters applied for the show and 24 were picked. It's an amazing achievement."
