PLANS for an HGV testing centre at the Westhampnett depot have been postponed.
The redevelopment project is set to be reconsidered when the transit travellers’ site is completed.
The decision was supported by members at a Chichester District Council cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
A council report on the Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) said: “Further evaluation of project design and costing is indicating greater complexity than initially expected.”
Cllr John Connor said the problems of organising the depot were just a ‘little too much at this stage’ and the plans would be put on the ‘back burner’.
However, Cllr Josef Ransley said he was ‘disappointed’ the project had to be delayed.
“It is not often that you get to grasp the revenue stream,” he said.
Diane Shepherd, chief executive of the district council, said: “We do need to finish off the two projects that we have talked about and then look at a management proposal.”
