What's on this week at Ropetackle

THIS week's Ropetackle events begin on Saturday, October 4, with the return of comedy sketch show Release the Hounds.

Catch this show prior to its London transfer and see the team in action, led by Daniel Beales with help from Alistair Kerr, Peter Mantle, Lauren Beales and Amy Blackburn. Tickets are 10, the fun starts at 8pm with regulars Patrick Moore, Les Balls, Richard & Judy et al.

On Sunday, October 5, it's Herbie Flowers' regular Jazz Breakfast – a Ropetackle favourite that sees the place packed to the gunnels each month.

For just 7 (2 children) you can have a cup of tea or coffee and listen to Herbie, pictured, and his chums.

This month the bass legend and convivial host is joined by drummer Malcolm Mortimore (Blockheads, Gentle Giant) and roving guitarist Richard Durrant.

There will also be Danish pastries and a licensed bar (all proceeds to Ropetackle).

Film plays an important part in the life of Ropetackle.

This season, director Phil Grabsky will be presenting his films Muhammad Ali: Through the Eyes of the World and Heavy Water – A Film for Chernobyl.

Members of the Cornish Film Festival will be travelling to Shoreham to screen nine original short films, and there will be a rare screening of a rescued Shoreham film, A Lowland Cinderella.

On Wednesday, October 8, the Shoreham Society presents Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, pictured below.

Doors open at 7pm and the film starts at 7.30pm, with tickets at just 4 (Shoreham Society/Friends of Ropetackle 2).

The bar will be open throughout and lively debate will doubtless follow the film.

If you're interested in visiting Ropetackle then please feel free to drop by for a chat during the day, Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays.

The box office is also open on these days and one hour before each performance.

Tickets can be booked by calling 01273 464440 or visiting the website
