A CHICHESTER family have completed an impressive charity bike ride from London to Paris, raising an incredible £3,000 for the charity ‘dreams come true’.
Dean Simpson, his wife Di and two sons Jed, 17 and Zac, 13, cycled 220 miles in just over three-and-a-half days.
Carrying everything they needed for the whole trip, the Simpsons travelled to London and after a quick photo at Big Ben, started the first leg of their journey only to be hit by several large thunderstorms.
After a night in Burgess Hill, the family cycled to their crossing at Newhaven and continued through beautiful French scenery before stopping at the halfway point. The family covered 65 miles of varied terrain on day three, and despite numerous punctures and a French family stepping in to help, arrived safely in Cergy after 13 hours on the bikes.
The final push to Paris with 43 miles to go was challenging for the Simpsons, but at last the Eiffel Tower was in sight and the family had completed their ride.
Dean Simpson said: Overall we had an amazing time. It was both challenging and fun and gave us precious time together working as a team. A massive thankyou to everyone who sponsored us.
“My wife rates it as one of the best family experiences we’ve ever had and is looking forward to planning the next one.”
