THE lord mayor of the city of London was the special guest when she paid a visit to the Weald and Downland Museum on Sunday.
Alderman Fiona Woolf, only the second female to hold the position of lord mayor, was the guest of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, which has a long association with the museum.
She viewed crafts and activities taking place and was entertained to lunch by more than 100 liverymen.
She was also presented with the ‘Tussy Mussy’, a posy of herbs for health, luck and happiness picked from the historic gardens.
Mrs Woolf said: “A magnificent museum, bringing together social history and inspiring the continuation of high standards in so many wonderful crafts.”
